The 51-year-old father-of-four was found unresponsive inside his car with multiple gunshot wounds after crashing into a pole in Dandenong in 2019.
Two men – aged 44 and 32 – were arrested shortly after 5am this morning and are now being interviewed by police over their alleged roles in the killing.
“Today’s arrests are as a direct result of an incredible amount of work over the past few years by investigators from Crime Command, particularly the Homicide Squad,” Assistant Commissioner at the Criminal Command, Bob Hill said.
A warrant was also executed at a gym in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburb of Hallam this morning.
A 27-year-old man was charged with Rasimi’s alleged murder in November 2019.
Another man, 29, was also charged with murder in February 2020.
Police earlier said Rasimi had connections with a number of criminal organisations, including outlaw motorcycle gangs, but refused to give details.
Police have warned they will continue to pursue anyone involved in the attack.
“Some individuals and criminal groups think they can operate about the law – time and time again they are proven wrong,” Mr Hill said.
“They may be able to avoid law enforcement for a period but it is only a matter of time before they face their day of judgement.”
