Live updates: Fires at Ash Ranges and Dolleys Hill Park in Pirbright continue to burn for a second day

Two fires that broke out in Surrey yesterday (April 23) in Ash Range and Dolleys Hill Park are continuing today, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service confirmed. Both incidents are unfolding in Pirbright.

The fire service said in a tweet at 1:37pm yesterday: “We are currently in attendance at a fire in the open near Henley Park in # Pirbright after receiving the initial call at 11.28am. We have 12 fire & rescue vehicles there, including specialist units.

“Please avoid the area & those nearby should close windows and doors.”

A second tweet by the fire service yesterday at 4:49pm then read: “A second fire has developed nearby the one at Henley Park in #Pirbright. This one has nine fire and rescue vehicles in attendance and is located in Dolleys Hill Park, Pirbright Road. The houses nearby should also close windows and doors.”

It is not yet clear if there are any injuries caused by the fire in the village, which is located in the Guildford borough. SurreyLive has reached out to the emergency services, including police ambulance and fire, for further information.

Dramatic photographs and video show smoking billowing into the air above the countryside as a result of the fires. It is unclear at this time how they began.
